It’s no secret that we have a loud and proud foodie population here in New England, and with good reason. Our restaurant industry is killing it right now, and there’s never a shortage of new establishments opening their doors to the public. You can never run out of places to visit for your next dining experience, especially in New Hampshire.
One popular type of restaurant found throughout the Granite State is diners.
When you hear ‘diner’, you probably think of the retro ’50s ones straight out of Grease, complete with red cushions, checkered floors, and bar stools. Maybe you’re thinking of milkshakes, burgers, or wearing a poodle skirt if you feel so inclined. Or, atmosphere may not matter to you at all, and you’re simply looking for a traditional, home-cooked breakfast made with top quality ingredients.
Regardless, thanks to the website LoveFood and this recent list they published, we now know the best diner in all 50 states. The verdict for New Hampshire? Drum, roll, please…
The Red Arrow Diner
With locations in Manchester, Londonderry, Concord, and Nashua, it’s no secret that the Red Arrow Diner has been a popular spot for a long time.
The diner first opened in Manchester back in 1922, according to its website, and the owners pride themselves on providing “a delicious home-style meal with the highest of standards in quality and consistency.” The Red Arrow Diner is especially known for serving “thick milkshakes, huge sandwiches, burgers, and the specialty of pork pie with gravy,” according to LoveFood. This writer’s getting hungry just thinking about it. We don’t doubt that this place lives up to its reputation, and wish them nothing but continued success for the future.
