Red Arrow Diner Navigates the New Hampshire Egg Shortage with Resilience and Care

Red Arrow Diner Co-Owner Amanda Wihby interviewed on WMUR 9 about 2025 New Hampshire egg shortage.

Manchester, NH – As the New Hampshire egg shortage continues to impact the nation, Red Arrow Diner remains committed to serving delicious meals without compromising quality or raising menu prices. A recent WMUR segment shed light on the challenges posed by a spike in bird flu cases and included Red Arrow Diner co-owner Amanda Wihby in the conversation.

According to the report, the outbreak has severely reduced the number of hens laying eggs. The USDA reports that over 13 million birds were affected in the past 30 days alone, and industry experts predict that this setback may persist throughout 2025. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has noted that while a dozen Grade-A eggs cost just over two dollars in September 2023, prices have more than doubled over the past year.

Despite these challenges, Red Arrow Diner, which uses up to 30,000 eggs a day across our four NH restaurants, is doing our best to mitigate the effects of the New Hampshire egg shortage. “We are hoping that this is the top, and that it will start coming down and we will try to hold steady as best we can,” Amanda said during the interview.

With current inflationary pressures affecting everyday items, Amanda emphasized the diner’s commitment to its customers: “We know that our customers are going through inflation just like us, so we are looking out for them. We have been through this before. We know that it is a cycle.”

Our dedication to customer care means that, despite the escalating costs in the market, menu prices at Red Arrow Diner will remain unchanged as long as possible, ensuring our patrons can continue enjoying their favorite meals without additional financial strain.
